We officially open new homes in Market Harborough

We have officially opened 27 new affordable homes, with great countryside views off Tymecrosse Gardens in Market Harborough. The new scheme is helping to house local people in homes for social rent and shared ownership.

The new development includes a mix of one-bedroom bungalows and two, three and four-bedroom homes. Nearly all residents have been handed keys to their homes and a new community is beginning to take shape.

With house prices in the area continuing to be higher than the average for the East Midlands, the development offers affordable accommodation for local people who might otherwise have been priced out of the area.

Allan Fisher, Director of Development and Assets at NCHA comments: “This development is testament to our commitment to deliver quality affordable homes that people will be proud to live in. As house prices in the area continue to rise, affordable housing schemes like this are vital to support more people onto the property ladder and allow local people to be able to afford to stay in the area.”

The development, costing circa £6m, contributes to our Strategic Partnership 2018-2023 with Homes England, to deliver new, affordable homes across the East Midlands and East of England.

We partnered with VentURe Properties Group and Mercer Building Solutions for this build which was designed by IMA Architects.

At the opening event which took place on Tuesday 23 May, we were joined by residents as well as visitors from Harborough Borough Council and Homes England to take a tour of the finished site.

Cllr Jim Knight, Harborough District Council’s Cabinet lead for wellbeing, with responsibility for housing, said: “I am delighted that the council has supported this housing development, which has now been completed and is ready for residents to move in. The council recognises that affordable housing is needed in the Harborough district to ensure it remains a place which residents can comfortably live and work.”
