New partnership to deliver ‘gas free’ affordable homes for Lenton

Building work has started on 36 new affordable homes on Prospect Place in Lenton, Nottingham.

We have partnered with TUNE Homes for the design and build, who have a strong delivery track record and reputation for innovative design.

There’s a special focus to make these new homes energy efficient. This will both reduce their carbon footprint and help reduce energy costs for the new residents. The homes will be completely gas-free, and fitted with air-source heat pumps and PV solar panels. The walls, floors and ceilings are filled with thick insulation and the windows are argon filled to keep the warm air in.

The finished scheme will offer two, three and four bedroom homes to support housing need in the area. Ten homes will be sold for shared ownership and the remaining 26 will be let at an affordable rent by Nottingham City Council.

The scheme will bring an area of brownfield land into positive use for much-needed affordable housing and has been designed to blend sensitively with the wider Lenton community.

The Head of Housing and Regeneration at Nottingham City Council, Mark Lowe met with Allan Fisher, Director of Development and Assets at NCHA to mark the start of work at the site.

Mark Lowe, Head of Housing and Regeneration, Nottingham City Council, said: “This site has been vacant for quite some time, which has detracted from other development nearby. We are delighted that NCHA are developing much-needed affordable homes on this site, which will contribute towards the overall improvement of the wider area.”

Allan Fisher, Director of Development and Assets at NCHA, said: “We are delighted to see this development with TUNE Homes underway. As a housing association we are committed to providing more homes, great services and better lives for our customers.”

Andrew Roberts, Director at Tune Developments Limited, said: “Prospect Place provides the perfect opportunity to showcase our ‘place making’ and environmental design skills. As we are also the contractor, we can ensure the quality and finish match the high expectations of this exemplar project.”

We are working with Nottingham City Council, Homes England and TUNE Homes to deliver this urban development which is due to be completed by summer 2024. The scheme contributes to NCHA’s Strategic Partnership with Homes England, to deliver new, affordable homes across the East Midlands and East of England.
