Accessing information about NCHA

From 1 October 2026, new government requirements, called Social Tenant Access to Information Requirements (STAIRs), will come into effect for housing associations.

The aim is to boost transparency and make it easier for social housing customers to access information about how their landlords operate and deliver services.

What it means for you

You’ll be able to find more information about how we manage homes and services, how we are performing, and the work we’re doing to support our customers and communities.

We’ve been working with colleagues across NCHA to collate the information required under the new rules to ensure it is easily accessible for you in one central place.

This information is now live on this new area of our website.

We want it to be as simple as possible for you to find answers to common questions about how we work and learn more about our decision making. We’ll make this content available routinely so that, in many cases, you can access what you need without having to contact us directly.

What’s included

The information we publish will include topics such as:

  • How NCHA is governed and makes decisions
  • How money is spent and invested
  • Information and key policies about our homes and services available for customers
  • Our performance, including customer satisfaction and complaints information.

Looking ahead

From 1 April 2027, a second phase of STAIRs will be rolled out to give customers the right to request certain information from their landlord if it is not already available. We’ll continue to share updates and make it easy for you to find any information you need.

For more information about STAIRs, you can visit the UK government website for guidance.
