How we can help
We provide specialist community-based support to people who are experiencing, or have experienced, domestic abuse. We're able to offer one-on-one and group support sessions to suit individual needs. Here at Derbyshire WISH we provide services in Erewash, South Derbyshire as well as parts of the Amber Valley and Derbyshire Dales.
People accessing our support are assigned a key worker who will help them plan the support they would like to help them move forward with their life in a way they feel safe.
Support can include:
- creating a personal safety plan
- finding the right place to live
- help with benefits and budgeting
- finding and accessing legal support
- connecting with cultural and religious organisations
- accessing education, volunteering and employment.
We offer group support programmes including the Freedom Programme (which helps to raise awareness about domestic abuse) and Freedom Forward (which helps people build their confidence and self-esteem).
I'm Janet, and I'm the manager at Derbyshire WISH. I'm incredibly proud of the support we offer people. The adults and children we work with are at the heart of everything we do. We provide a safe and supportive environment where we can work with our clients to regain control of their lives and move forward to a future free from the impact of domestic abuse.
