Students’ artwork for Lenton
Bringing ‘community’ to life
Young artists from NUAST School in Lenton have been celebrating everything that makes their community special – with a little help from NCHA customers.
We recently popped into the school alongside two of our customers to judge a vibrant student art competition, linked to our nearby Faraday Fields development. And it’s fair to say – we were seriously impressed.
A celebration of local identity
At the heart of the visit were residents from Prospect Place, one of our newest developments in the area, who took on the important job of helping choose the winning designs. Students spoke with confidence and pride, explaining how their pieces captured the spirit of Lenton and Nottingham.
The artwork itself was a real celebration of place and identity. Students drew inspiration from across Nottingham’s rich culture – including Nottingham Forest Football Club, the city’s lace heritage, Robin Hood, the Savoy Cinema and the Ningbo Friendship Bridge.
Many pieces also reflected the diversity of the school community, weaving in different languages and cultural influences that make Lenton unique.
Building for the future
The competition forms part of our wider plans for a 69-home affordable housing development off Derby Road. Delivered in partnership with Keepmoat, and supported by Homes England funding, the scheme will provide much-needed homes for local people, with completion expected in December 2027.
We were also joined on the day by local councillor Linda Woodings, highlighting the strength of partnership working and the shared commitment to supporting the community.
Bringing generations together
This initiative is a great example of how we’re working to involve customers in shaping the places they live. By bringing residents into the judging process, we’ve not only recognised young talent but also helped strengthen connections between existing communities and the next generation.
The winning artwork will be installed permanently at NUAST School – a lasting reminder of this creative collaboration.
A big thank you to all the students and staff at NUAST for such a warm welcome – and for reminding us just how much talent and pride there is in the local community.
