Celebrating Rural Housing Week

NCHA's commitment to rural communities

This Rural Housing Week, we're celebrating the role affordable housing plays in helping rural communities thrive and reflecting on the difference a safe, affordable home can make to people's lives.

For many people, staying close to family, friends, work and support networks is an important part of feeling at home. Over the last five years, NCHA has delivered 115 affordable homes in rural communities across the East Midlands, helping people to remain in the places they know and love.

Rural communities face a range of housing challenges, with rising house prices and limited housing options often making it difficult for local people to stay in the villages where they grew up. Affordable housing can play an important role in addressing this challenge, helping communities remain vibrant, sustainable and connected.

NCHA's continued investment in rural housing has been supported by funding from Homes England, helping us deliver much-needed affordable homes across the region.

Fran Cropper, Assistant Director of Development and Sales at NCHA, said:

"Everyone deserves the opportunity to live in a safe, affordable home within the community they want to be part of.

"Over the last five years, we've delivered 115 homes in rural areas across the East Midlands, helping local families, young people and older residents stay close to the people, places and support networks that matter most to them.

"We're grateful for the continued support from Homes England, which has helped us provide affordable homes in communities where they are needed."

Looking ahead, NCHA remains committed to supporting rural communities through the delivery of affordable housing. Our Strategic Partnership 3 (SP3) programme includes funding for additional rural homes, while we continue to work with local authorities, landowners and other partners to identify opportunities to meet housing need in rural areas.

Fran added:

"Affordable rural housing is about more than providing homes. It's about helping communities remain diverse and sustainable, enabling people to put down roots and build their futures where they belong. We're proud of what we've achieved so far and look forward to delivering more homes that make a lasting difference."

Rural Housing Week is an opportunity to recognise the importance of affordable homes in villages and market towns across the country. At NCHA, we're committed to creating homes and communities where people can thrive, now and in the future.
