Keeping CCTV services reliable where you live
Thank you to everyone who spoke to us during our Big Door Knock. Your feedback was really valuable, and we’re now working through what you told us.
In the meantime, many customers told us they would like some more information about a recent CCTV letter. We wanted to clearly explain what this means for you.
Why you may receive letters like this
You may sometimes receive letters from us about proposed works or changes to services, like CCTV. Under Section 20 of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985, landlords must legally consult with tenants and leaseholders who pay certain types of service charges before carrying out different types of work.
This includes if we’re entering into long-term agreements that may have an impact on costs you would pay for service charges under your tenancy agreement or lease with NCHA.
This is an important legal process designed to make sure you’re informed, have the chance to give your views, and understand any potential impact on you. Even if there is no change to your day-to-day service immediately, we still need to contact you as part of this consultation process.
New CCTV contract
We’re planning to put a new contract in place for maintaining and servicing CCTV systems in some of our neighbourhoods. This may include installing new CCTV systems in the future.
This is part of our ongoing work to make sure shared spaces are safe, secure and well looked after. We’re consulting with residents who may be affected by the new contract now and/or in the coming years.
CCTV plays an important role in helping to protect customers and communities. By introducing a new contract, we can make sure any systems we have are reliable, regularly maintained and working as they should.
What this means for you
The letter we sent you explains we’re intending to enter a new contract.
- If CCTV is already provided: The service will continue to be maintained under the new contract.
- If CCTV is not already provided: We may look at doing this in the future. The consultation explains this may impact on the service charges you pay in the future for installation, servicing and maintenance of CCTV systems.
- The letter we sent out gives you an opportunity to formally ask questions about the contract proposals. We will give a formal answer to any questions in a follow-up letter to you.
Why we’re making this change
We regularly review our contracts to ensure services are high quality and offer good value for money. This new contract will help us:
- Keep current and future CCTV systems working effectively
- Ensure maintenance is carried out to a high standard
- Deliver the best possible value for customers.
Have your say
You don’t need to take any action, but we welcome your feedback.
