Help to reduce your water bill

If you're finding it difficult to manage household costs, you may be able to get help through Severn Trent Water’s Big Difference Scheme.

The scheme supports customers on lower incomes by reducing the amount you pay towards your water bill. 

Who’s eligible

The scheme is available to Severn Trent Water customers with a qualifying household income.

Eligible customers could receive a reduction on their yearly water bill, with the level of support based on household income and personal circumstances. Additional allowances may apply for households with dependent children.

How to apply

You can check eligibility and apply online. If you’re struggling financially, it’s worth checking if you’re eligible.

You'll need to provide information about your household income and evidence such as payslips, benefit award letters or bank statements as part of the application process.

If your application is successful, you'll receive a new payment plan tailored to your circumstances. The scheme can also help customers who have outstanding water bill debt by including affordable repayments within their payment arrangement.

The Big Difference Scheme runs for 12 months at a time, so you'll need to reapply each year if you continue to need support.
