Beware of fraudsters pretending to be NCHA staff
We want to remind customers to be alert to fraudulent callers who may pretend to be NCHA staff in order to gain access to your home or charge you for work.
Unfortunately, we are aware of individuals posing as housing staff or repairs contractors and seeking payment for work. This is fraud and a criminal offence. If this happens to you, you should report it to the police.
Please remember:
- We will never try to access your home without an appointment
- Our colleagues always carry an NCHA photo ID badge, and often wear NCHA branded clothing
- We will never ask you for payment for inspections, repairs or maintenance work.
If someone turns up at your door unexpectedly or you feel unsure in any way, you do not have to let them in. It is perfectly reasonable to ask them to wait outside while you contact us to check whether the visit is genuine. Our colleagues won’t mind waiting, but a fraudster is likely to be disgruntled or leave.
Your safety is our priority. Taking a moment to check could protect you from fraud and keep you safe in your home.
Never give out your name, phone number or bank details to anyone who calls at your door unexpectedly.
Nottinghamshire Police have some further advice on annoying phone calls or unwanted visits.
