Welcome to our new Multi-Trades Apprentices

This month two new Multi-Trades Apprentices joined us at NCHA; welcome to Jordan and Taylor.

Following the success of our previous intakes of Multi-Trades Apprentices, our new cohort is joining us to gain a good foundation in basic core trade skills. Over the next year they will learn about plumbing, painting, joinery and plastering via a Property Maintenance Operative Apprenticeship, before moving on to their chosen specialist trade.

Scott Armitage, Assistant Director of Property Services, said: “We always have a huge amount of interest in these positions, and the successful pair came out on top after a thorough review of all the applications and an assessment day. At NCHA, we’re committed to investing in new talent and the apprenticeship programme plays a big part in our succession planning. We’re delighted to welcome Jordan and Taylor to NCHA as they start their careers.”

Support from Access Training

The apprentices will be attending Access Training one day a fortnight to receive practical training on the skills they will need to work in our customers’ homes, and then spend the rest of their time learning on the job with our Property Services teams.

Hannah Harwood, Operations Director at Access Training, said: “I’m really pleased to welcome this third cohort of Multi-Trades Apprentices from NCHA to Access Training. An apprenticeship like this is a chance to gain skills and experience, while earning money working at the same time. We’ll be giving the group all the practical training they need to make a real success of this opportunity and I can’t wait to see how they get on.”

Thank you to Jewson Partnership Solutions

Jordan and Taylor have been kindly gifted their first professional toolkits by Jewson Partnership Solutions. The toolkit includes all the basics they need to get started in their new careers and will prove to be very useful over the next year.

Paul Lee from Jewson Partnership Solutions said: “I’m pleased that we’re able to support young apprentices at the start of their careers. Having a good set of tools will help them to learn the skills they need to succeed, and everyone at Jewson wishes them all the best as they start their new careers.”
