As part of her commitment to developing her skills and enhancing the support offered to customers, Community Coordinator Alice Ingham recently completed the CIH Level 3 Housing and Property Management apprenticeship. The programme gave her the opportunity to deepen her knowledge, strengthen cross‑team working, and build greater confidence in her role — all while continuing to deliver a high‑quality service within the fast‑paced Communities team.
Alice's housing apprenticeship journey
Investing in our people
In 2025, NCHA Community Coordinator Alice completed the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) Level 3 qualification in Housing and Property Management.
The apprenticeship was offered to colleagues in the Communities team without the qualification, and she chose to take up the opportunity. Clear information at the start helped her understand the expectations and how the programme would support her development.
Managing her workload
Balancing study with a fast‑paced, reactive role was sometimes challenging. A dedicated weekly study day made it easier for her to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain service levels. Regular meetings with her assessor and our Learning and Development team provided guidance and reassurance throughout.
Learning about the bigger picture
Alice particularly valued learning more about housing management and seeing how this applied within NCHA. Working closely with other departments gave her a stronger grasp of how different services operate and connect, improving cross‑team collaboration and helping her deliver a more joined‑up service to customers.
Final thoughts
Although managing both the apprenticeship and her day‑to‑day responsibilities was demanding, the experience gave Alice a wider understanding of the organisation and strengthened her confidence. Completing the end point assessment made the effort worthwhile, and she would recommend an apprenticeship to anyone considering one.
Alice's advice to others considering further study? “Although it can feel demanding at times, completing the end‑point assessment makes all the hard work worth it. I would absolutely recommend undertaking an apprenticeship to anyone considering it."
We’re proud to be an organisation that nurtures ambition and helps our people reach their full potential. Alice's success is just one example of how investing in our people creates a stronger, more knowledgeable workforce, ready to make a real difference.
