Homelessness Prevention Service

This Nottingham-based service provides short-term specialised support which aims to prevent homelessness.

Contact us

To access support from the Homelessness Prevention Service, you'll need to be referred to us through Housing Aid at Nottingham City Council.

If you're visiting us, we're right by the Victoria Centre bus station in Nottingham city centre - the entrance is on Mansfield Road.

How we can help

We provide support to help people who may be homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Everyone who uses our service is assigned their own key worker, who will work to identify what help is needed and develop and personalised support plan. This usually involves meeting with you regularly to discuss your situation, and also contacting relevant organisations who are involved or could help.

We provide advice on:

  • Debt
  • Rent arrears
  • Benefit payments
  • Housing rights and responsibilities
  • Maintaining utility services
  • Resolving problems with landlords
  • Budgeting
  • Finding grants and funding.

We aim to help you find or keep your accommodation, and can offer help with getting you settled into a new home. Usually we support people for around six weeks, but this can be extended to six months when required.
