We’re building 93 new homes in Newark
Construction is underway
Work has recently started on a new housing development at 293 Bowbridge Road, Newark, where we’re building 93 high‑quality, affordable homes for local people.
Designed by our in‑house architects, Pelham, and built by Mercers Building Solutions, the development reflects our ongoing commitment to creating energy‑efficient, affordable homes that are cheaper to keep warm than the national average.
A mix of flats, family homes and bungalows will be available for affordable rent to people on Newark and Sherwood District Council’s housing waiting list. The development also includes 13 supported living homes, providing tailored accommodation for young people who need some additional support to build essential life skills and live independently.
Councillor Rowan Cozens, Deputy Leader at Newark and Sherwood District Council, said: “There is a real need for more housing not just in the district but across the whole of the country. In the UK the supply of housing has not been keeping up with demand and access to housing of any type is becoming increasingly difficult for low-income households.
“The delivery of this development is a positive step towards meeting the area’s affordable housing requirements, providing additional affordable homes for the community and offering energy efficient homes that are cheaper to run.”
The homes are being built using traditional construction methods and will each be fitted with gas combi boilers. They are designed to achieve an EPC rating of B, ensuring comfortable and energy-efficient living for future residents. Every property will also have a dedicated parking space.
This development is due for completion early 2027 and is supported by funding from Homes England, through NCHA’s Strategic Partnership for 2021–2028, which aims to increase the supply of affordable housing across the East Midlands.
We’re proud to be delivering more homes and services that make a real difference to the communities we serve. Explore our latest ESG Report to see how we’re meeting our targets and building energy‑efficient, affordable homes for the future.
