Celebrating 100 new affordable homes in Leicester

We've officially opened a major affordable housing development on Loughborough Road, Leicester, delivering 100 much-needed homes for local families.

The £24 million scheme, built by Owl Partnerships, transforms former warehouse land into a thriving community of one, two, three, and four-bedroom homes. Of the 100 properties:

  • 44 are let at affordable rent to people on Leicester’s housing register
  • 42 are sold through shared ownership, helping local people onto the property ladder
  • 14 provide supported housing commissioned by Leicester City Council.

All homes will be managed by NCHA and designed with sustainability in mind, featuring solar panels and achieving impressive energy ratings to help reduce bills.

Celebrating the milestone

Last week, we welcomed Leicester City Mayor Sir Peter Soulsby, partners, and new residents to mark the occasion. Flowers were presented to Jaddine, one of the first residents to move in, who shared:

“I’m over the moon. My children and I had been homeless for two and a half years, so I am relieved to finally have a secure roof over our heads. NCHA have massively transformed our lives.”

Paul Moat, Chief Executive, said: “It’s fantastic to see these energy-efficient homes completed and a strong community beginning to flourish. Meeting families already settling in and hearing the difference it’s made to their lives is why we do what we do. We remain committed to building homes people can afford, with a target of delivering 320 new affordable homes each year across the East Midlands.”

Leicester City Mayor Peter Soulsby added: “I’m delighted to see this high-quality, 100% affordable housing development completed and providing good homes for new residents. This successful collaboration between NCHA, Owl Partnerships and all involved is making a direct impact on meeting the city’s housing need.”

Part of a bigger picture

The development forms part of NCHA’s Strategic Partnership with Homes England (2021–2028), dedicated to delivering affordable housing across the East Midlands. It also supports Leicester City Council’s ambitious plans to tackle the housing crisis.
