Students from Farnborough Spencer Academy visit NCHA
As part of National Apprenticeship Week, NCHA was pleased to welcome a group of students from Farnborough Spencer Academy to our Clifton Place offices for an inspirational look at the wide range of careers available within the housing, care and support sector.
The visit gave students the chance to see how a local organisation operates, learn about different job roles, and discover how apprenticeships can provide a supported route into meaningful, long‑term careers.
A closer look at life at NCHA
Students were shown around Clifton Place, where they experienced a behind‑the‑scenes view of how our teams work together to deliver essential services for customers and communities. For many, it was their first time exploring a workplace of this scale, offering a valuable glimpse into what a future career could look like.
Meeting the teams who make a difference
During the visit, colleagues from across NCHA shared insights into the work they do, the skills involved, and the pathways that had led them into their roles. Students heard from teams across the business, learning about everything from care and support roles and customer experience to communications and property services.
The young visitors asked thoughtful questions and were keen to understand the variety of skills and backgrounds that contribute to the organisation’s success.
Inspiring future ambitions
The session highlighted the breadth of opportunities available in a local organisation like NCHA and demonstrated how apprenticeships can open doors to rewarding careers. By hearing real‑life experiences from our colleagues, students gained a clearer understanding of what different roles involve and the possibilities ahead as they start planning their next steps.
Insights from Access Training
As part of the day, the students also heard from Kathy at Access Training, a training provider part‑owned by NCHA. Kathy shared an overview of the organisation’s work, the apprenticeship programmes they deliver, and the wide range of skills young people can develop through vocational learning. Her talk helped students understand the training routes available locally and how apprenticeships can lead directly into rewarding careers, including roles within NCHA and across the wider sector.
Supporting our community’s future workforce
We’re proud to play a part in developing talent in our local communities, and visits like this are an important way of helping young people learn more about the world of work.
Thank you to the students and staff from Farnborough Spencer Academy for joining us, and to all NCHA colleagues who took the time to share their experiences.
