Supporting people at risk of homelessness

Our Homelessness Prevention team works across Nottingham City, supporting people who are at risk of losing their home.

Commissioned by Nottingham City Council, our team work with up to 120 customers at any one time. Through practical help, emotional support and partnership working, they help people navigate their situation and move towards housing stability.

Here are just a few of the lives transformed by the service (all personal details have been changed):

Isaac’s story
Isaac was evicted from his privately rented home and placed in temporary housing. Unable to cope with the instability, his mental health deteriorated. Our team stepped in to support him with appointments, legal advice, and housing applications. He has now moved into secure private accommodation, access to Universal Credit, a new GP, and a more positive outlook for the future.

Mia’s story
A survivor of human trafficking, Mia was granted Leave to Remain and placed in hotel accommodation. Our team helped her register with the council’s Homelink service, and she’s now in more secure temporary housing. Mia continues to search for a permanent home through both council and private routes, with ongoing support from our team.

Harri’s story
Facing eviction due to her landlord selling the property, Harri - who lives with multiple health and mobility issues - received weekly wellbeing calls and housing support from our team. We helped her navigate legal advice and property searches; she’s now preparing to move into a new home where she can settle comfortably.

Ron’s story
When Ron’s elderly mother passed away, he lost his home and ended up sleeping rough. The experience took a big toll on his mental and physical health. Our team supported him through the crisis, helping him secure permanent accommodation in his own name and begin rebuilding his life with stability and dignity.

Family in crisis
A couple with three young children and multiple health challenges lost their home due to unaffordable rent increases at their privately rented home. With mounting debts and limited benefits, they were unable to access temporary accommodation and resorted to staying with family. Our team provides weekly emotional support and works closely with housing agencies to find a suitable long-term solution.
