Affordable, energy efficient homes for Sileby
Work has got under way on a new development in Sileby, where 55 new affordable homes are being built.
We are building the homes off Homefield Road which has fantastic views over the Soar Valley. All of the new homes have been designed by RG+P architects to EPC A standard, the best standard in energy efficiency, making them more affordable to heat and run.
The development will offer 33 affordable homes for rent and 22 to buy through shared ownership.
Allan Fisher, Director of Development and Assets at NCHA said: “These energy efficient homes show our commitment to delivering more sustainable housing and reducing the carbon footprint on our homes.
“We know that there’s a need for affordable housing of this type in the area, and we’re proud to be bringing these homes to help address that need. There’s a good variety of housing types from one-bed maisonettes, two-bed bungalows and two, three and four-bed houses. Thanks to the shared ownership scheme, they will also provide opportunities for local people to take their first step onto the property ladder.”
The scheme contributes to our Strategic Partnership with Homes England, to deliver new, affordable homes across the East Midlands and East of England. We are working in partnership with Charnwood Borough Council and Owl Partnerships to deliver this ambitious programme which is due to be completed by August 2024.
Steve Thompson, Director at Owl Partnerships: “We worked closely with our partners and Marrons to understand the true extent of the housing crisis and how this site could be developed sensitively to avoid negative impacts including landscape harm in particular.”
Peter Oliver, Director of Housing and Wellbeing at Charnwood Borough Council, said: “We are pleased to be working in partnership with NCHA to ensure that more great quality, energy efficient and affordable homes are available to residents.
“Sileby is an attractive and thriving village. These homes will be a superb opportunity for people to become part of a fantastic local community.”
