Supporting customers affected by domestic abuse

Lauren Earle, Contracts Manager, Care & Support, NCHA

We are committed to supporting those living with or fleeing domestic abuse. We have specialist services in Nottingham and Derbyshire that support survivors through both community support and accommodation based services.

Support for customers

Our Derbyshire WISH and Umuada services provide secure housing for people and families experiencing domestic abuse. We have refuges for women (and children) only, as well as community-based accommodation for men, women and larger families.

Our teams are passionate about supporting survivors of DA both in the community and in our refuges. The children and adults we work with are at the heart of everything we do. We aim to provide a safe and supportive space where we can work with our service users to regain control of their lives and move forwards towards a safe, healthy, happy future, free from the impact of domestic abuse.

Preventative community-based support

In Derbyshire we offer a unique project. Preventative rather than reactive, the Choices programme works with young people who are displaying challenging behaviours and at risk of harming intimate partners, family members or friends.

Our support workers provide intensive one-to-one support to address and reduce abusive tendencies at the earliest possible stage. They help children and young people make positive life choices to put a stop to the cycle of domestic abuse and prevent them from becoming adult perpetrators.

The team also offer a school-based programme, educating young people on healthy relationships.

Visit the Choices website to find out more, or make a referral.
