Celebrating shared ownership week

NCHA have been selling shared ownership homes since 1986 and have already helped over 1300 people buy a new home. So we thought we would support Shared Ownership Week, from 5 – 12 October by sharing information about the scheme. Ensure you follow NCHA Sales on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

About shared ownership

Shared ownership is another way to buy your home. You buy a percentage, and pay rent on the rest. The housing association owns part of it — but you’re living there, you decorate it, and you decide when to sell. Buying a percentage means a smaller deposit and smaller mortgage. It’s a sooner first step on the ladder for lots of people.

Usually, you can also carry on buying shares, to own your home 100%. This is called staircasing. For many people, especially first-time buyers, it can be an easier way to own your first home. In 2021 – 2022 we had 37 buyers staircase to 100% out of 48 total staircasing completions.

92% of our customers were satisfied with our sales service. Check out some of the latest customers’ stories on our website.
