Mental Health Awareness Week

The 10 May marks the launch of Mental Health Awareness Week, the UK’s national week to raise awareness of mental health.

The week, which is hosted by the Mental Health Foundation, is in its 21st year and runs from Monday 10 - Sunday 16 May.

This year, the theme is ‘Nature’ and across the country, people will be celebrating the mental health benefits of being around nature in their local community in a range of digital and creative ways.

This past year has been really testing our mental health with many people who have never suffered before having felt its effects. The pandemic has meant that even though we’ve been cooped up in our homes, we’ve also taken the time to embrace the great outdoors with millions of us turning to nature.

The Mental Health Foundation's research on the impacts of the pandemic has shown that going for walks outside was one of our top coping strategies, with 45% of us reporting that being in green spaces has been vital for our mental health.

This week, we'll be asking customers to take a break, have a stroll and share photos of the nature they see around them on our social media accounts.
