Working together for better lives

Bianca Shaw told us about how the Customer Involvement team helped her to gain new employment

Bianca, one of our customers who lives in Bulwell, was really struggling in a job she hated.

As a mother with an 11 year old child to look after, the thought of changing careers seemed stressful, but she knew she wanted to do something different.

After speaking to our Income team she arranged a visit with Ali Blackburn, our Housing Benefit and Universal Credit Liaison Officer, to look at what benefits she could get to help.

Offering more than benefit advice, Ali put her in touch with our Customer Involvement team to see if she could find a new role through the WorkWise employability project.

Through their efforts she successfully applied for our Office and Post Apprentice role and got the chance to complete a Level 2 in Business Administration qualification.

Nearly two years on, she wants to stay with NCHA saying it’s the “best place she’s ever worked and that everyone’s so lovely and helpful”.
