Committed to customer involvement

We know that our customers are at the heart of everything we do.

That’s why we’re changing the way we do customer involvement, with better ways to shape change at NCHA. Part of this includes a new Independent Chair of Customer Committee role, to ensure our customers’ voice is heard.

Introducing Raj

With extensive experience working with housing associations and local authorities Raj Kumar successfully applied for this role.

Raj undertook a research project into social housing in his final year, whilst studying at Loughborough University. Ever since then he’s worked in the social housing sector across the country.

Through One Enterprise, his consultancy business, he now undertakes:

  • Governance reviews
  • Value for money work / service improvement assessments
  • Resident support:
    • Reviewing engagement strategies
    • Setting up scrutiny panels
    • Independent Tenant Advisors.

Working with NCHA

As an active board member since the age of 22, he’s just finished nine years working with Watford Community Housing.

As a previous consultant for NCHA, he’s always appreciated our “ambition for resident engagement” and “likes the work we do through TPAS”.

Raj said: “NCHA has a real commitment to making customer involvement work, which is important. When you stop listening to residents you’re going to fail sooner or later.”

He was our natural fit for the role, having already worked with our colleagues and customers.

Moving forward, he’ll be supporting us to build our Customer Committee and customer panels. This will help to “strengthen residents’ voice”, alongside exploring new digital ways to engage with customers.
