Update on possession proceedings and evictions

The government’s ban on bailiff-enforced evictions has ended.

The temporary ban on bailiff-enforced evictions came to an end on 31 May 2021. At NCHA, we'll continue to do all that we can to support our customers to sustain their tenancies with us.

Comment from Holly Dagnall, our Director of Homes and Wellbeing:

"The government’s temporary ban on evictions (in all but extreme circumstances) has ended. We would like all our customers to be reassured that our stance on evictions remains unchanged. Our Community Support team are on hand to offer benefits, debt and budgeting advice.

"We also have a dedicated Debt and Welfare Benefits Advisor who can help if a tenancy is at risk. If a customer gets into debt with us, we will work with them at every stage of the process to arrange a repayment plan. We will always to everything that we can to avoid evictions due to rent arrears."
