Weightlifter Emily Campbell visits NCHA
Marking International Women’s Day
International Women's Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality. It is marked annually on 8 March.
This International Women’s Day we were lucky enough to have Olympic medal winning weightlifter Emily Campbell to join us for an event.
Emily Campbell is an inspiration to many young girls and women as she wrote her name in the history books as the winner of Team GB’s first ever medal in women’s weightlifting at Tokyo 2020, with silver in the +87kg category.
Emily is also the daughter of one of our colleagues, Lynda Campbell, who is a Team Manager – Business Services in the Property Services team.
Emily spoke to a group of lucky colleagues about a range of subjects including:
- How she got into weight lifting
- Her experience working with SEN children and inspiring others
- Her current routine with training and fitting in other work commitments
- Her experiences at the Commonwealth and Olympic games
- Her plans for the future
- And much more!
Thank you to Emily for joining us. We all wish her the best of luck for the future.
