NCHA supports new VODG report

We are giving our full support to a call from the Voluntary Organisations Disability Group (VODG) for a fresh approach to the strategic commissioning of adult social care.

Their report ‘Commissioning for a vibrant voluntary disability sector: the case for change’ concludes that we must strengthen the partnerships between statutory bodies and the voluntary sector to ensure the rights of the 13.3M disabled adults in the UK.

Is it our belief at NCHA that now is not the time for expensive and overly complicated procurement. Good quality commissioning comes from a place of trust, shared risk and a desire to make the best use of available resources. Effective services should be built on local knowledge, innovation and flexible solutions that put the service user at the heart of the service.

We contributed to VODG’s report and fully support its recommendations.
