Homes for Cathy: our commitments for 2021
Homelessness services across the country are seeing a big surge in demand, as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As part of our response to the increase in individuals requiring support we have renewed our homelessness action plan for 2021.
As a member of the Homes for Cathy initiative since 2017, we strive to help prevent homelessness, support those in need and work to highlight the needs of homeless people in the UK.
A collective of housing associations, Homes for Cathy works alongside the National Housing Federation, Shelter and Crisis to highlight the continuing needs of homeless people in the UK. Members sign up to nine commitments for action in the fight against homelessness.
We have updated our procedures and working practices to ensure that our nine commitments are embedded in our services and activities.
At NCHA we manage over 9,700 homes for over 20,000 residents. We have specialist teams that support people out of homelessness and work with residents to achieve a sustainable tenancy.
We have specialist projects that offer homelessness provision in temporary accommodation for young people and adults, as well as support for asylum seekers. Across the East Midlands we are supporting councils to meet their homelessness targets.
You can find out more about our homelessness services on our emergency support and advice pages.
