Giving back to the community

Being part of the NCHA family since February 2021, Rachel works in our Care and Support department helping people at risk of homelessness. She has previous experience of working in social care and she’s “always liked to help people”.

She joined our team due to a recommendation from a friend after working for NHS’ 111 service. Moving to support our customers helped Rachel to give back to her community. She can “relate to homeless people and those experiencing domestic abuse” due to some of her past experiences. It’s amazing to see her doing well and giving others the support she once received.

Now she’s got the chance to:

  • Work flexible shifts
  • Get free on the job training
  • Access a range of employee benefits
  • Start a formal NVQ qualification and continue to progress.

Rachel said: “I enjoy my job. I don’t think there’s a better job than helping people.” She really wants to “see where the role takes her” and use her “personal experience to help others”.
