Explore opportunities in social care
Maria works at Watcombe Circus where we support people with learning disabilities.
She joined NCHA after a recommendation from a friend a she wanted a change from working as a nursery nurse.
She’s already been with us for quite a few months “doing lots of online training”, to get better knowledge of working with vulnerable adults.
Maria said: “I enjoy the variety of the work as it’s a different kind of challenge. I’d like to continue working in social care, as there’s so many options.
“It’s different every day, nothing’s the same and it’s really nice to have a conversation with the service users. For my job the application process was easy, I didn’t struggle with it at all.
“Changing to work with adults is the best thing I’ve done.”
Our colleagues really appreciate the value we place on having a work/life balance. Maria says she “get her rotas three weeks in advance” and can “swap shifts with someone” to fit around other commitments.
