A new home with new opportunities

Cristina works at Nuthall Road, our service which supports people with mental health, learning difficulties and additional needs.

Having been in the UK for eight years, Cristina has worked for NCHA for nearly three years. Having previously worked in a care role in Spain, when moving to the UK she already had lots of experience.

Holding a Nurse Assistant NVQ and a Diploma in Social Care, she’s been a real asset to our team. She’s also done voluntary work with Red Cross Youth in paediatric wards and in schools supporting children from different backgrounds.

Cristina has worked in a range of our services, such as Biko Square and Second Avenue. She said: “NCHA provided me with the opportunity to work in a permanent position supporting people with mental health care needs. It gave me lots of knowledge for my future and helped me to grow as a professional. NCHA has been helping me to improve my English skills as that was my aim since I came to live in the UK.”

To anyone who’s thinking of a career in social care her advice is “give it a go”. Cristina thinks that “it’s great to try different things and get experience”.
