Partnership working leads to new development for Hinckley

Nottingham Community Housing Association (NCHA) have completed the development of 38 new homes on Southfield Road in Hinckley, Leicestershire, with a range of properties on offer for local residents in the area.

Situated close to local amenities with easy access to local parks, Hinckley Train Station and Britannia Shopping Centre, the former derelict site was transformed, with 21 affordable rent homes and 17 shared ownership properties available.

The new development was created through partnership working with the local authority, enabling the creation of 68 new homes on the site, 30 of which are managed by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council (HBBC).

Allan Fisher, NCHA Director of Development and Sales, comments further on the success of the new development: “It was a pleasure to work with both Westleigh and Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council on this site. By using a more creative approach to partnership working we have developed a scheme which works for everyone involved, not least for the new residents and shared ownership buyers. We look forward to replicating this new model of working in the future where both NCHA and the local authority can benefit from our experience and expertise in development.”

Additionally, Councillor Peter Wallace, Executive Member for Housing and Community Safety at Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council said: “These new homes are a great addition to HBBC’s stock of over 3300 council houses, which are distributed across the borough. I am very pleased that this new site is now completed and our first tenants have now moved in. I hope they enjoy living here and will soon feel at home."

We held our official opening for the new development on 28th March 2018, which included a tour of the site and speeches from Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council officials, alongside attendance from Westleigh Partnerships, Corporate Architecture and Diamond Wood and Shaw Consulting Engineers.

Gary Turner, Partnerships and Investments Director for Westleigh Partnerships, who attended our official opening, comments: “We were delighted to take part in the official launch of the Southfield Road scheme in Hinckley. This project helps to address the need for affordable housing in the borough, and we would like to thank our partners at HBBC and NCHA for making the scheme such a success.”

The development, which was made possible due to funding from Homes England, will provide much need housing for people in the local area, contributing to our goal of providing over 300 new homes a year for people across the East Midlands.
