Local Housing Association in Top 20

Nottingham Community Housing Association (NCHA), the largest locally-based social housing provider in Nottingham, is among the top 20 developers of affordable housing in the country.

Set up in 1973, NCHA has more than 7,000 homes and operates throughout the East Midlands. Its annual report released today shows it has a turnover of £40.9million, up £1.3million on last year. NCHA employs around 800 staff, and has a property asset base valued at over £300 million.

Recently awarded Four Green Lights by the Housing Corporation, NCHA spent £39million building new affordable homes last year, of which £12million came from the Government.

Foreseeing Gordon Brown’s challenge to also provide more affordable homes to buy, NCHA finished their first development for sale in June last year and have a further 98 homes for sale in the pipeline.
Nor was its existing stock neglected at the cost of new build. More than £11million was spent improving and maintaining NCHA property up to Decent Homes standard.

Chief Executive Mike Andrews said “Our vision is more homes, great services, better lives and I think that our performance last year lives up to that. We have launched our Five Year Corporate Plan today and this will give us the strategy to provide high quality housing, services and support for more people in need.”
