Nottingham Community Housing Association’s founder and Chief Executive, Andrew Malone OBE, has retired after nearly 35 years of service.

Andrew founded Nottingham Community Housing Association (NCHA) in 1973 and the Association is now the largest locally-based social housing provider with both rented and homes to buy and is the Government’s lead partner in the East Midlands providing over 7,500 homes for 10,000 tenants in seven counties.

An evening reception to celebrate his success and achievements over the years was held at Nottingham Castle on Monday 25th June.

The Association’s longest standing tenant, Sheila Spencer, recalled her first encounters with a young, enthusiastic local housing association back in the early 1970’s. Members of the board, past and present, took the opportunity to praise Andrew’s leadership and strong vision for NCHA. Plus many members of staff and stakeholders attended the event to celebrate the career of one of the housing industries longest serving Chief Executives.

Succeeding Andrew as Chief Executive will be NCHA’s Director of Housing, Mike Andrews, who has worked for the Association for over 18 years. Mike will take up post from 1st July 2007.
