SMaRT thinking wins national award
SMaRT thinking wins national award
Nottingham Community Housing Association’s Support Management and Response Team (SMaRT), were selected from a group of highly commendable finalists as Winner of the Ceretas IT Innovator Award 2007.
In May, representatives from SMaRT and service users were presented with the award at a ceremony hosted by Esther Rantzen in London. The award recognises SMaRT’s achievement in developing an integrated support and telecare service across the East Midlands.
SMaRT Business Manager Sarah Burroughes commented that,
“We are so proud to have won. Assistive technology contributes to the whole package of service provision, but the key is the SERVICE. SMaRT is focused on enabling and empowering people to seek the support they need when they need it, not when we think they should have it!”
The award marks the culmination of several years work between SMaRT and IT. Having been instrumental in developing the CCTV solution that is an inegral part of SMaRT’s unique service, IT worked with SMaRT to realise the vision of a joined-up system that combines support workers, CCTV, response teams and a dedicated call centre.
IT Manager Bob Moorey said,
“It’s great to see our ideas and technology going out, being used successfully and winning awards”.

SMaRT and IT now have plans to sell the system to other housing associations, and this will see the partnership between the two departments continue as they provide training and sales support.
