Double whammy for award winning Housing Association
06/03/2006

A local Housing Association has something to shout about after recently winning not one but two awards.

Nottingham Community Housing Association had just received a Special Recommendation in the Deputy Prime Minister’s Award for Sustainable Communities when the news came that they had scooped first prize at the Communicator in Business Awards.

The Special Recommendation was awarded to NCHA in January for their development at the tiny peak park village of Parwich, near Ashbourne where, in an effort to stop young families from leaving the village, they built three new affordable homes for rent and a new schoolroom for the village school.

Then in February, despite being up against stiff competition from agencies and big corporates across the East Midlands, NCHA won the region’s Communicators in Business Award for their staff magazine ‘Squawk’, whose eye-catching format is designed in-house and printed locally.

This brings NCHA’s awards total in the past 5 years to 9 and they’ll be looking for a larger mantlepiece if this trend continues!
