NCHA pitch in to tackle anti-social behaviour
17/02/2006

Anti-social behaviour is being tackled head on with a new multi-sport a pitch at Barton Green in Clifton.

Following complaints from their tenants and other locals about young people hanging around on the estate and getting into trouble, Nottingham Community Housing Association (NCHA) came up with an idea to try and solve the problem.

Working in partnership with local people, the City Council, and the Police, NCHA donated £3,300 and with a grant of £30,000 secured from WREN (Waste Recycling & Environmental) the idea became a reality.  An extra £3,000 from the Clifton and Silverdale Area Committee means there is also provision for a teenage shelter.

The pitch will provide a valuable community resource including opportunities for local young people to take part in healthy sporting and social activities which will  include football and basketball coaching.  There will also be competitions during the school holidays to provide kids with an alternative to hanging round the streets and reduce the risk of anti-social behaviour.
