Councillor helps survivors of domestic abuse

When parents with children contact Nottingham Community Housing Association’s (NCHA) East Lindsey Domestic Abuse service, they have often had to leave their belongings behind to escape a threatening situation. As part of NCHA’s services to offer safety and security for the service users, providing the children with toys and activities is a key part in the family’s recovery plan.

Service Manager Julie Woods applied to East Lindsey District Councillor Michael Preen’s "Councillor’s Fund" to try and secure a donation to provide the service users with toys for the children to enjoy and funding to arrange outings throughout the summer and at Christmas.

The application was successful, and the East Lindsey Domestic Abuse service will receive £1,000 for the parents and children they support.

Julie Woods, Service Manager commented
"This is a fantastic result and will enable us to provide extra special support for the vulnerable mothers, fathers and children that we help across East Lindsey. We can’t thank Councillor Preen enough for his donation."
