SHINE in the spotlight

SHINE, Nottingham Community Housing Association’s (NCHA) newest Floating Support Service, is to be officially launched on Monday 19th January with a celebratory open day showcasing its Floating Support Services. The day will include presentations from NCHA managers, a luxury raffle, buffet lunch, and the opportunity to find out about NCHA’s four other Floating Support Services.

SHINE provides a glimmer of hope to women who are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse in the past. Any woman living in Nottingham City who has a housing related need can be referred for support from NCHA’s Floating Support Service. The aim of the service is to reduce the risk of homelessness by supporting women to gain the skills they need to live as independently as possible.

SHINE Manager, Sam Anderson says, "Our open day is about creating an awareness of the services we offer in the local community. SHINE is the only service of its kind in Nottingham City. We want to ensure that all women who might need our services have the opportunity to be referred to us." On the day, Sam will be providing attendees with an overview of SHINE, its purpose, and the vision she has for the service.

As well as providing this invaluable service for women, NCHA is partnered with Framework in running three Floating Support Services; Foothold, for homeless families (also partnered with NACRO), Getting Through, for individuals with mental health needs, and Key Support for people needing general housing support. NCHA also works in partnership with the Metropolitan Support Trust to deliver Include, a Floating Support Service for adults with learning difficulties living in their own homes.
