Next stop panto!

Nottingham City Transport and Foothold work to ensure that local families SHALL go to the ball…

Nottingham City Transport play the role of fairy godmother in this year’s Cinderella: generous Travel Centre staff have donated panto tickets to help struggling local families enjoy some festive cheer.

NCHA Care and Support’s Foothold service supports families in Nottingham who are at risk of homelessness. The team works with people to help them find and keep accommodation – this can involve setting up budgets, planning to reduce their debts, understand their housing rights and responsibilities, and applying for benefits. Homelessness can have long-lasting damaging effects on families, children and communities, and the work Foothold does can help people keep their heads above water in difficult times.

For several years, Nottingham City Transport’s Travel Centre staff have made generous donations of Christmas presents and festive food to the children of families who use Foothold’s services. This year, Foothold worked with Nottingham City Transport to plan a memorable trip to the panto instead.

Foothold Children’s and Young People’s Worker Kim Munday said: “For the people we support, a trip to the theatre is a luxury they can’t afford. We wanted to make sure that local children didn’t miss out on this Christmas experience, and thanks to the generosity of Nottingham City Transport, we’ve been able to book them in for a performance to remember. Every year Nottingham City Transport overwhelm us with their generosity, and they can certainly be proud that they have added some real sparkle to Christmas this December.”

Nottingham City Transport have donated 49 tickets for Cinderella at Nottingham Playhouse, which will be distributed by staff at Foothold to families who really need something to look forward to this festive season.
