Living with dementia

We are committed to providing the best support and care we can for people living with dementia, and for older people receiving our services.

We provide residential dementia care in Leicester at our George Hythe House care home. With a vibrant and friendly care team, we work hard to create a warm and welcoming home for all the residents.

We have pledged our support to the Dementia Action Alliance and encourage all our staff to attend “Dementia Friend” awareness sessions, co-ordinated by the Alzheimer’s Society.

The “Dementia 2020” plan

In March 2012 the former Prime Minister David Cameron launched a national challenge to fight dementia – an unprecedented programme of action to deliver sustained improvements in health and care, create dementia friendly communities, and boost dementia research.

850,000 people are currently living with dementia in the UK* and the government’s vision is that across England by 2020 we will be:

  • The best country in the world for dementia care and support and for people with dementia, their carers and families to live
  • The best place in the world to undertake research into dementia and other neurodegenerative diseases

We’re supporting this plan, and we’re playing our part in delivering high quality care and support.
