A winning streak!

We’re celebrating a double win for Sam Smith, from PST North and the team at Claremont Road.

It was a night for celebration at last week’s Great British Care Awards. Our fantastic care colleagues were shortlisted for three awards in the East Midlands regional final.

Up for an award was Anne for the Dementia Carer Award, the team at Claremont Road for the Care Team Award and Sam Smith for the Home Care Worker Award.

Sam took home the award for home care worker. She’s an absolute superstar, who supports people living with mental health and learning disabilities in North Nottinghamshire and has worked in care for nine years. Sam explains: “I love making a difference to a person's quality of life. There’s nothing better than seeing them reach their goals and gain independence.”

Next, there were smiles all round for the close-knit team at Claremont Road. Following their overall ‘outstanding’ rating from the CQC earlier this year, the team were crowned the East Midlands care team of the year.

Our colleagues at Claremont Road strive to offer the best possible care and provide unique experiences to each and every resident. They’re always trying out new, innovative ideas and have recently set up a private Facebook account, as a ‘life-line’ for families to keep abreast of what’s happening at Claremont.

Finally, Anne was acknowledged as a very well deserved runner up in the Dementia Carer category. Anne’s worked as a Team Leader at Holmfield Dementia Day Centre in Leicester for 16 years, providing personalised support to those living with dementia and their families. Last year Anne’s vision of a reminiscence village for the centre’s visitors became a reality, creating a safe, reflective space.

Holly Dagnall, Director of Homes and Wellbeing comments: I am really proud of all of our hardworking staff in Care and Support. It is our staff that make NCHA both a successful organisation and a great place to work and so I am delighted that they have received this well-deserved recognition. Congratulations all – and on behalf of NCHA and our customers – thank you for all your great work.

It was such an amazing night and we were blown away with two out of three wins. A massive thank you to all our care colleagues who help transform lives each and every day.

We look forward to the national finals in March!
