Universal Credit is the Government’s new single benefits payment, from the Department of Work and Pensions. Following initial pilots, Universal Credit is being rolled out
across the country.

If you currently, or may in the future receive certain benefits, you will at some point be moved on to Universal Credit.

There are significant differences in how Universal Credit is applied for and how you will receive your payments. It is vital that you are prepared for these changes.

There are things you can do to make sure you’re ready for the changes when they happen:

- Ensure your rent account is in credit
- Check you have a relevant bank account that can accept payments in and set up direct debits
- Budget monthly
- Refresh your computer skills

This guide will take you step-by-step through the processes, to ensure that you are ready.
