Maintenance and Repairs

The Maintenance Department provides a comprehensive repair service for tenants and ensures that the association's housing stock is kept in good condition.

People living in our properties are able to report a repair 24 hours a day, seven days a week. During office hours, our frontline staff take the calls and arrange for contractors to do the work. In the evenings and over the weekend and public holidays, emergency calls are taken by an out of hours service and, if necessary, they will arrange assistance.

Gas Servicing
Gas Regulation 36 3(a), as ordered by the Health and Safety Executive (Gas Safety, Installation and Use Regulations 1998), places a legal obligation upon landlords to carry out safety checks to all gas appliances at least once in every 12 month period. You will receive a letter from us notifying you when the service is due. We will try our best to arrange an appointment that is convenient to you and, in exceptional circumstances, will offer an out of working hours service.

Tenant Improvements and Adaptations
NCHA will not normally object to tenants undertaking improvements to their homes. We will only refuse permission if the work would cause us expense, make it difficult to let in the future or give rise to complaints from other tenants. However, in all cases tenants should have our written permission to carry out the works before starting. If an adaptation is required due to disability or infirmity, you should contact your Estate Officer
