NCHA holds Universal Credit events

For many who have already moved onto the new benefit this has been a difficult adjustment.

There are some important changes you need to be aware of, for example:

  • Payments are made calendar monthly and once you are moved onto Universal Credit you will no longer receive Housing Benefit.
  • You will need an email address to claim Universal Credit. If you do not already have one you should set one up as soon as possible
  • You will need a bank account if you do not already have one.
  • Council Tax Reduction is not included in Universal Credit and this will need to be claimed separately from your local council.

As your Landlord we want to help you through this change. We have teamed up with a number of advice services in Nottingham to make sure that you can get the help and advice that you need.

Staff will be available at the events to provide help in the following areas:

  • Guidance about how the new benefits will work
  • Budgeting help and advice
  • Information about where to get additional help and support
  • Basic IT skills courses

Refreshments will be provided at the events as well as activities for young children and some freebies.

Feel free to give us a call if you have any questions. Also please note that if you are unable to attend any of the events above, home visits are available on request.
