Fabric ’Nets’ top environment award

Green apple award

Now in its 13th year, the Green Apple Awards are established as one of the top environmental schemes in the UK.

Once more NCHA’s in-house architects have come up trumps with an eco-friendly design that beat off hundreds of entries from across the UK. Simon Henderson was the architect for Fabric which has made such a contribution to the architectural landscape of Leicester city centre. Our partner contractors William Davis went along to collect the Green Apple Silver Award in the Residential Category for Architectural Heritage. This is our second Green Apple Award. Last year we won Bronze for our development at Hartington Street in Loughborough designed by NCHA Design Manager, Mike Price.

Matt Colloby, from William Davis, collects his second Green Apple Award from David Bellamy

The £4.8m Fabric apartment scheme opened back in July and is a former disused hosiery factory dating from the 19th century in the heart of Leicester’s St. George’s Regeneration area.

The derelict factory has been converted into 40 smart ‘city living’ apartments together with some underground parking and a ground floor retail unit. Fourteen apartments are available for shared ownership, 10 for affordable rent and 16 for sale.

NCHA’s commercial subsidiary LETS Select Ltd has handled the sale of the apartments for shared ownership and outright sale and further details can be obtained from Rose Saint at the Marketing Suite on 0116 253 6231.
