NCHA Case Study:
Arthur’s Yard to Arthur’s Court
A builder’s yard in the centre of Sleaford has been demolished to make way for a new affordable housing scheme for the elderly comprising 21 two-bed apartments.
The scheme was officially opened on Friday 28th July at 11.30am by Cllr Brighton OBE. Arthur’s Court, named in memory of Arthur Hatcher (former owner of the builders yard) signals the latest joint development partnership between Nottingham Community Housing Association (NCHA), North Kesteven District Council (NKDC), Sleaford Pride and Westleigh Developments Ltd.
The site is in a very prominent location in the heart of the town’s conservation area. Navigation Wharf has a number of historical buildings and elements to it. The arts centre The Hub is the largest building adjacent to the site whilst Navigation House, the former weighing office, stands in the centre of Navigation Wharf.
The centre of Sleaford has undergone major regeneration over the past few years and this is NCHA’s third major development in the market town.
Notes:
The total scheme costs £1, 922, 492. NCHA contributed £924, 992 and the Housing Corporation funded the remaining £997,500.
