Celebrating equality and diversity at Nottinghamshire Pride

We attended Nottinghamshire Pride, flying the flag for Nottingham Community Housing Association (NCHA) for the third year running.

Last Saturday, 27 August, was Nottinghamshire Pride, and despite the weather, it was huge this year with more stalls and people than ever.

We were really fortunate to have some amazing NCHA volunteers running our stall on the day, and we were also visited by lots of other employees taking part in the event. Our stall was super busy throughout the day, picking up particularly after the carnival had passed at 12pm.

We had a real presence with over 500 people wearing one of our NCHA rainbow stickers and gave out over 250 job cards promoting our role as Stonewall Diversity Champions.

The volunteers really made the day and we’ve come away with lots of ideas for how we can make it bigger and better next year. Pride for us has developed from something we just wanted to be a part of, to a major event in the NCHA calendar.

Daniel Atyes, Tenant Involvement Officer, said: “It was great to see so many people coming together to celebrate equality and diversity, especially at a time when intolerance for different lifestyles is a real problem in our society. Three years in and we’re still full of energy and ideas, can’t wait to see what happens next year!”
