Nottingham Applications
Nottingham Homelink
In recognition of the need to meet unmet demand and continue to offer choice to applicants for social housing, NCHA has been working with Nottingham City Homes and other housing associations to develop choice based lettings across Nottingham.
It is hoped that the system will be up and running by June 2006 and will mean that all LETS applicants will have access through Nottingham Homelink to over 35,000 council and RSL properties across Nottingham as well as housing association properties in adjacent boroughs.
NCHA will no longer maintain its own registration list or produce LETS adverts. Instead, all applicants, including transfer applicants, will be transferred to the Homelink registration list and will be able to maintain the registration date they have under the LETS system.
Applicants will have to complete a Homelink application form which will gather information about housing need and personal circumstances after which they will be banded into one of the six priority bands. NCHA transfer applicants will continue to be banded by NCHA.
NCHA and other housing association properties advertised through Homelink will state criteria that applicants will have to meet. Instead of our existing nomination arrangements, 50% of properties advertised within the city will be prioritised for applicants in bands one to three who are Nottingham city residents. Other criteria will also be set to ensure that NCHA’s nomination obligations to other local authorities are maintained.
We hope that the new system will improve access and choice for anyone seeking social housing in Nottingham through providing a one stop shop for applications, easy bidding for propertiesby telephone and internet, a simplified banding system that takes account of housing need and through widening the access to the totalstock of social housing in Nottingham.
Positive feedback from consultations on the Homelink proposal has already been received from NCHA’s Allocations Consumer Advisory Panel. However,we would like to encourage further comments and feedback from LETS applicants on the Homelink proposal.
