Housing with Care and Support
"They listen to what you have to say about your problems, help you when you need help and support you in what decisions you make."
NCHA’s Housing with Care and Support Department has been working with local authorities since 1993 to provide specialist support and care services to vulnerable adults. The Supported Housing Business Stream manages more than twenty Supported Housing projects and thirteen Floating Support schemes across the East Midlands.
The Supported Housing Business Stream is broken down into the following services:-
Each project within these services has a local manager, known as the project manager, who is supported by a staff team of trained support workers.
All of the projects within these services cater for individuals that require a range of support packages. This support is provided through a person centered approach and support plans are developed with the service user at the centre of the process.
Each project also has a Person Centered Services (PCS) Representative, that could be either a staff member or service user. This person helps to co-ordinate and promote all PCS activities within the project and across the department. For more information about our PCS activities, click here.
NCHA’s Supported Housing projects are predominantly funded by Supporting People, which is a government programme that aims to help people live more independently and to maintain their accommodation by funding organisations to provide housing related support.
Nationally, a wide range of vulnerable people receive support from Supporting People funded services, including people with mental ill health, people with learning disabilities, older people, people with physical or sensory disabilities, homeless people and families, young people, teenage parents, people with drug or alcohol problems, people at risk of domestic violence, refugees, travellers, and ex-offenders or people at risk of offending.
Currently, NCHA hold contracts with eight Supporting People Authorities across the region.
