Free Basic Skills Courses
Derbyshire WISH Project
Tutors from Castle College are going into Derbyshire WISH Women’s Refuge twice every week to offer couses to the service users in various subjects, including IT, Maths, English and Art.
These courses are available to the women free of charge.
Free Chlamydia Screenings
Derbyshire WISH Project
Women staying at Derbyshire WISH women’s refuge will now be able to access free and discreet tests for Chlamydia. Chlamydia is almost always completely symptomless and can be harmful and lead to infertility if it is left unattended.
Helen, one of the Support Workers at the refuge has secured free kits and treatment which can be used within the refuge, meaning that the women do not have to attend a clinic.
This has been greeted warmly by all of the current service users and the project aims to give every woman the opportunity to be tested on admission, or later if she wishes.
