Christmas pans out for Nottingham city’s homeless

We are extremely grateful to the Travel Centre staff at Nottingham City Transport (NCT) Travel Centre.

Thanks to their overwhelming generosity, we have been able to kit out all 13 kitchens at our new homelessness prevention service in Nottingham city.

NCT delivered the goods, just in time for Christmas. Pots and pans, mugs, scissors, tin openers, knives and forks were just a few of the amazing donations received.

The new service opened earlier this month, to provide temporary accommodation for single people and couples experiencing homelessness in the Nottingham city area.

Developed with Nottingham City Council, the service is a joint response, aimed at alleviating homelessness in the city.

13 bed spaces are available and allocated to people referred to us from Nottingham City Council’s Housing Aid Department.

The donations were received by Carla Williams, Support Worker for the scheme: “We are thrilled with these generous gifts from the NCT Travel Centre. We have had residents arrive with nothing but the clothes on their backs. It is wonderful that we can now provide them with the basics required to cook for themselves.”

Kim Munday, Complex Families Worker adds: “Staff at the NCT Travel Centre have provided much needed kitchen essentials which will make day to day living for those living here all that much easier. I would like to thank the Travel Centre staff for their kindness, generosity and for their continued support for the work that we do.”
